Default Database Character Sets - 08-22-2005 , 06:19 AM

We accept data in a number of languages but the client applications do not
always display data correctly. I believe this is a problem with the client
not being able to handle none-ascii charactersets and not an isssue within
the database.

Has anyone else any opinions or experiences of mutli-language data?

Regards

Colin

Hi,

I'm afraid it may not be that easy.
It depends on whether the languages you're dealing with all can
use the same code set. That would be the easy case.
If not, then you probably have to find a (compromise) code set
that can handle all your languages best.

Anyway, you probably should start reading the manual
"IBM Informix GLS User's Guide".

Martin
