Some positive news:

- as we are in the process to upgrade to 11.50 we decided to try this
i a lab environment.

- average time per transaction in the lab environment in 10.00.FC8 was
0.15 second

- after the upgrade to 11.50.FC6W1 the average time is reduced to
0.066 !

Nothing is changed except the version, we upgraded "in place" and then
did an update statistics using dostats. It seems to me that we ran
into some kind of bug in version 10 and that this now corrected in
version 11.50.

We will not spend any more time on this, we will now concentrate on
getting the upgrade done
