Default Amazon EC2.... - 11-13-2010 , 06:42 PM

Hi,

I just sign to Amazon EC2 to check how works the instances with Informix...and for my surprise I found only two images, with Informix Express and Informix Workgroup...
I'm still little lost on the amazon site... for me all that is to much confusing...

So, anyone already use this services?
Already used with Innovator-C ? They can be used into the EC2 ?
If exists some image with Innovator-C or growth.. can appoint me where I found it..

My objectives... discovery how works EC2 with Informix, what is the costs.....and the possibility to configure a Drupal on my site accessing the Informix/EC2 as database...

I just don't found yet a host sevice* what* want to offer Informix Innovator-C, just like mysql to use as database option... on low costs hosts...* (just like I keep my website.. for +-60 dollars / year)

Thanks
Cesar

I actually attended a cloud presentation at IDUG this week and here is
the reasoning that was given to concentrate on development and test. I
paraphrase:
"The utilization of development and test system sis typically in the
low-single digits."
Looking at the Linux box where I do development on that is certainly
true even with recycling of the boxes as test servers.
Interestingly the vast amount of test I do need minimal resources (near
empty databases).
So the idea of loading up a server in the cloud with a development image
to write and run my tests on seems quite reasonable.

Not that both EC2 and the IBM clouds support "virtual private clouds"
where you need VPN to connect.

Cheers
Serge
