Default Test drive DPF - 10-17-2010 , 01:01 PM

The IBM documentation says this:

"In order to create a partitioned database environment, you must
install DB2 Enterprise Server Edition (ESE). To enable the DB2
Database Partitioning Feature (DPF) of DB2 ESE, you must obtain a DPF
license key in addition to the ESE license key."

It looks like DPF can't be set up with a trial version. Or does anyone
know a way? My company doesn't use it, so I won't get the license, but
I'd like to try it (not only, but currently mainly to prepare for the
advanced DBA certification).

I think this feature was moved under the InfoSphere label. Here is a
90 day trial for InfoSphere: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/do...use/index.html

um... oh, Iit's not good for DB2 that users/beginers even need big
effort to find a useful copy...

Well, I generally like the idea of easy to find information and am
lobbying for it within IBM. However, in this case, DPF is not your
entry level/beginner feature. What I learned over time is in order to
deal with the IBM products is to have some flexibility in the naming
as it changes every X months. That's one important fact to know in
order to pass the DBA certification... ;-)
