Default Sybase to DB2 - 06-16-2010 , 03:59 PM

Is there anybody who has convert a sybase database to a DB2 Iseries
database ?

I would like to know
- the potential problems that could happen
- tools that could exist
- etc...

Thanks a lot.

Not to iSeries, but DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows includes a "DB2
SQL Skin feature for applications compatible with Sybase ASE" (long
horrible IBM name, see here:
http://www-01.ibm.com/software/data/...l-sybase.html).
A migration toolkit helps to migrate the data, most of the DDL is
justed replayed through that "SQL skin" layer against DB2. Apparently
the process is mostly painless.

The technology is based on a plug-in from ANTs (http://www.ants.com).
Maybe there is something similar for DB2 iSeries?

Henrik

Hi,

Register youself for event given in the below link. You can raise
questions to IBM labs
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/wi...t+with+the+Lab

It is "Easily moving from Sybase ASE to DB2" event from IBM labs.

Thanks
Gilroy
