Default introduce db2 database - 05-22-2006 , 11:05 AM

I recently had a hard drive crash, and was able to save the
db2 database directory that had daily updates for the
past three years. I need to find out if anyone has been
successful in reintroducing an old database to a
reinstated v6.1 database software & a new OS/2 partition.

I'v done this on a number of OS/2 releases but don't have any specific
information about 6.1.

I'd try a "catalog database" first. It's the simplest and easiest. If
that doesn't work, then there are other options to try but they would be
unique for your situation. There is an improper, very tricky, flakey
recovery technique using the most recent backup (you do have a backup,
don't you) and your files that can recover data more recent than the
backup but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a few days available
and your management understands that data may not be fully recoverable.
