Default Defining LOGARCHMETH1 - 01-28-2011 , 10:28 AM

Hi,

When defining your disk location as to where you are going to archive
your log files, can you put them on the same file system (ie. /
logfiles/archived_logs) as your log files (ie. /logfiles), but in a
different directory/folder as shown?

If so, are there any impacts doing so in a failover situation?

If not, can you please explain why?

Using HADR as well.

Yes, you can.

No, there are no impacts.

Not sure, if I understand your question. I guess you meant you wanted to
have an explanation, if there were any impacts.

But usually you should put your archived logs into a save place, like a
backup storage system. Or at least move them off the system. If you have
a problem with your hard disk (or filesystem where the archived logs
reside), you won't be abe to restore the database.
