Default DB2-Express Versus DB2-Workgroup Server Editions - 08-14-2003 , 11:14 AM

We were about to place an order for Workgroup Server Edition, when
Express arrived. So far, I have not been able to find out a side-by-side
features comparison between the two versions.

We are a college within a university, and we have been happy with the
WSE V7.2 edition, which we ran this summer as a trial (Free of charge,
thank you IBM!). We want to put up a production database now for student
records.

The sales talk (low cost, save time, &c) on the IBM Web pages take time
to wade through, but at the end one is left frustrated by not being able
to find out enough technical information to make a selection. The prices
listed on different pages do not agree, and the "request a quote" button at

http://www-3.ibm.com/software/data/d...ition-wse.html

is broken.

Please clarify, IBM!

From an SQL, rdbms engine point of view, workgroup is identical to
Express. Express is only licensed for half as many processors (licensed
for 2 CPU's as opposed to 4 for Workgroup).
