Default DB2/2 & JDBC V2 - 08-14-2003 , 06:09 PM

Does DB2/2 (ie for OS/2) V7.1/7.2 have/support JDBC 2.0?

V6.1 and V7 support JDBC V1.

But does V7.x support JDBC V2.0?

If not why not?

Does the underlying DB2/2 support two phase commits? (ie XA)

If it doesn't then that probably explains why no JDBC V2.0.

I am looking at a V7.2 FP10 sqllib (for Windows) and it definitely does
have a "sqllib\java12" directory. I don't know why you don't have one,
unless:

1) For some reason it isn't there on OS/2, or
2) There's something you need to install

I'm in process of investigating #1, but it seems our OS/2 build servers
still aren't recovered from the power hit.

Sure, it's just like any other V7 platform. Look for scripts called
"sqllib\java12\usejdbc2.bat" and "sqllib\java12\usejdbc1.bat".

Doesn't exist.

There is only one db2java.zip under SQLLIB.

It was also noted in one of the fixpak docs (3 or 4) that JDBC V2 was
not supported. I just wanted to know why.

Hi Larry!

I do appreciate your time in responding.

I think that the answer is #1. I've installed everything given to
me for 7.1 (except the datawhere house stuff).

All I can say is that the release notes for FP3 or 4 started that
JDBC V2 was not supported on OS/2, but no reason as to why.

Thanks again,

-Chris

Hi, Chris.

(Sorry if this gets posted twice... I 'm not sure if my previous posting
actually worked.)

I asked our current JDBC Developer, and while this question pre-dates
him, here's his response:

The customer can see our v72 support here
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/data/d...d/v7/java.html by platform. He
is correct in that we do not support it. As for why, I had to ask around for
some historical facts. : ) We think it was likely because there wasn't a JDK

1.1.8 for OS/2 at the time our JDBC 2 support was added. Thanks.
