I have a VMware image of Ubuntu Lucid and have installed DB2 express- C, created a database and enabled TCP/IP for the same. I am using NAT to connect to internet from VM. I need to know how to catalog that in my host db2 client on windows. Also if someone could help in the reverse - cataloging host database on a guest OS client, would be very very helpful. |

Hi Arun, I'm not sure how it works with VMWare, but usually you need bridged networking instead of NAT. Otherwise you won't be able to connect to your VM machinefrom the outside world. But with Virtual Box there is a way to do port forwarding when using NAT. I suggest that you use a bridged network in your VM. This is probably easier. After that you just need to catalog your VM ip address and that's it. Don't forget to disable the firewall on Ubuntu for the DB2 port. I don't have a VM at hand, but I believe that, even with NAT, there should be a shared network between the host and the guest (because the NAT'ing happens on the host). |
