Default automatic client reroute vs SA MP - 06-09-2011 , 11:08 AM

Hi,

I have a HADR environment where automatic client reroute is enabled.
What happens if primary is not reachable at all? Does the ACR works in
this situation?

I'm just wondering if I need to use SA MP to have automated client
reroute.

Thanks.

You don't need TSA-MP for client reroute, you can use it for automatic
failover from primary to standby server.

Check out following blog article from Chris Eaton:

And if that doesn't help, I'm sure Frederik will be able to explain
further... ;-)

Cheers!

Automatic client reroute tells the client which alternate server to
check if the primary server is unavailable. It is not directly related
to HADR takeover from primary to standby. To automatically do a HADR
takeover when the primary server fails, you need some sort of cluster
manager software such as Tivoli SA, or other similar software, or
create your own scripts. The cluster management software will invoke
DB2 commands to do the HADR takeover.

Client reroute can be accomplished by ACR, or Virtual IP address/
hostname for the database server (also controlled by cluster manager
software), or both.
