Default performance on indexes - oragtwy - 08-29-2003 , 05:47 AM

What can be the cause when a request on an index has a response
time of 0.3 seconds on SQLWindows and 300 deconds through the Oracle gateway
with an Oracle DB behind?

Hallo Christoph,

you're right, there should be no reason that Oracle is much more
slower than SQLBase.
Please test the following:
- Use SQLPlus from your Oracle version and try the request
If this is slow too, than there must be a difference between your 2
databases. In this case check your Oracle index and be shure that the
index is used. Maybe a slight difference can cause that a index is not
used by the system.
If the SQLPlus request is fast (I don't think so), than check your
sql.ini and show me your request.
Hope it helps.
