Default Gupta Database server and different OS - 01-31-2005 , 11:47 AM

Gupta Database server and different OS

I have a question for the gurus of the Gupta world.
I am running Gupta SQLBase 8.1.0 Build 13265 on two systems. One is a
live system and the other is a testing system. The live system is
Windows Server 2000 SP4 and the testing system is Windows XP SP2. If I
do a Load from an unload file on the Test system and then shutdown the
Database engine on the test system, then I shutdown the SQLBase engine
on the live system, then I copy the newly loaded database folder from
the test system to the live system, then I start the SQLBase engine on
the live system and issue an "Install Database" for the new
database - are there any problems to be expected from that or will
the database function properly?

I am being told by a different system admin that it will cause
"Pointer" problems within the files but I am having a hard time
understanding that since the pointers (as far as I know) are only
active when the database is installed and the SQLBase engine process is
running.

Many thanks
