Default Web-based database - 07-22-2005 , 01:54 PM

I have been asked to publish my database on the web so that it can be
used by our second, remote, office.

The database is very complex and was not designed with web publishing
in mind. I have made extensive use of 'Custom Dialogs' in the scripts.
Custom Dialogs script steps are not web-compatible. To avoid them will
involve a great deal of re-structuring of the database - which I want
to avoid, particulalry if web-based publishing doesn't provide a
satisfactory solution for the company.

Does anyone out there know if there is a workaround for this problem?
If so, asistance/advice would be most appreciated!

What version of FileMaker? It makes a big difference. FMP 7 has much
better web publishing capabilities than earlier versions.

You can run these scripts by using "custom web publishing, and not IWP"
if you have un-supported script steps, you may also want to check out
the webtrigger plug-in that allows you to run un-supported script steps
from the client version of FM7.

WebTrigger is available at: www.fmplugin.com
Easy custom web publishing is avaialble at: www.fxforge.net

Stephen

Thanks for the guidance. It looks as if this might be the answer, but
do you know whether the Plug-in supports the 'Custom Dialog' script
step?
