Default Viewing all scripts for all files in a FileMaker system - 08-08-2003 , 02:09 PM

I'm trying to understand a FileMaker system made by a previous
employee who I will never meet a and has left no documentation. Is
there a way to output all scripts in all files into one file or place
where I can review them? Something like SQL 2000 does in generating
scripts for the tables and procedures that you check off. It's kind of
a pain to navigate to the script code in over 20 files. What's more I
can't cut and paste them anywhere.

Thanks,

Kevin

If you have a copy of FM Developer 5.5 or above you can use the DDR
(Database Design Report) function. There are also tools you can
purchase. A couple of really excellent ones are Brushfire, from
Chapparal software, and MetaDataMagic from New Millennium. For your
purposes, I suspect Brushfire is going to be the better tool.

The low cost solution is to print the scripts. Go to Print, select
Filemaker in the functions pulldown, and you'll see options to print all
the scripts or a selected script.

However, the tools above also give you much more info about the field
defs, layouts & layout objects & files involved.

hello
you can print the scripts and/or buy FM dev
that would help to create a report about the whole solution you have.
bye
