Default Version Features - 05-28-2007 , 09:15 AM

I'm going to be doing some maintenance on a FM7 database, with some
enhancements. I will be working in 8.5: I want to make sure I don't do
anything using features that didn't exist in 7.
The single file multiple table architecture is simnple enough, but
from 7 to 8 to 8.5 there have been various minor and not so minor
enhancements. I'm just not sure I remember what appeared when.
Does anyone know of a comprehensive comparison anywhere that lists out
what features appeared with which version?

I would strongly recommend just working in 7 as much as possible just
to avoid any issues.

Its just too easy to make a goof. 7 to 8 was a *big* upgrade, with a
lot of UI controls and other stuff added... calendar controls, tab
controls, custom menus, variables, the exit script parameter, and so
on. It would be hard for me to ensure I never accidently used v8
features unless I was actually using v7.

8-8.5 was much less of a jump... the web control, object naming I
think were the two big ones.

FWIW I've never seen a comprehensive list of the minor features (new
script steps, new script step options, and new functions that were
added in each version); but would be interested if you ever found
one.

-regards,
Dave

That does make sense. I was hoping to avoid reinstalling 7.
