Default Variable Length Printing - 07-14-2005 , 10:34 PM

Hello,

We're doing a point-of-sale application. We're using a Datamax Barcode
label printer.

Filemaker prints fine, but is constrained by the Page Setup's paper
size limitation. We would like there to be a single "print" button that
will adjust the paper length to correspond to the label in question.

Each label has a variable amount of data, and we're using the sliding
feature (vertical only). The printer automatically cuts the label to
length.

Is there an Applescript or Filemaker script to adjust the printer's
paper size? Just about any hack will do, as the computer will have no
other duties except to run this program.

We're using Mac OSX 10.3+.

Thanks!

Neil Alexander

The Page Size is defined by the printer driver software and set / saved
by the Page Setup script command.

Now assuming that the printer driver allows you to set varying size
paper, then you could create separate scripts each with the Page Setup
command storing a different size and have the main Print script run the
appropriate page size script.

If the printer driver only has a couple of preset sizes you can choose
from then you're stuck with those.
