Default Using FMSA and IWP thru port 591 - 04-23-2007 , 06:12 AM

According to FM, if the default port 80 is in used by another device,
like a mail server, you can use port 591

I have opened port 591 for both TCP and UDP and directed traffic to the
correct server machine.

Since this does not work there must be something wrong, I have called FM
support to no avail.

How is this supposed to work? There references to port 591 in the
documentation but no instructions

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Richard

I guess it is port 5003 to be forwarded to a fixed local IP.
Please make a try and let us know.

What do you mean you opened 591 for tcp/udp and directed traffic to
the correct server?
Are you referring to your router/NAT box?

If so, you need to get it working on the local server before you
bother about firewall/NAT/router issues.
Is it working on the local machine? You should be able to access the
IWP site from localhost in the browser.
What port are you hosting your IWP solution on?

If you want to change it, you do so in the Edit -> Sharing -> Instant
Web Publishing dialog box. (At least that's where it is in 8, it moves
around a bit from version to version. In FM5/6 for example i believe
it was where you configured plugins, as IWP was just a plug-in.

Once you've got IWP is running on the local server, on port XX of your
choosing. (it doesn't have to be 591), then expose it to the public
world by opening up the port on your router.

Also, if you move IWP to a nonstandard port (ie not port 80), you are
aware you have to manually specify the port in the URL in the browser
right?

e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com:591/full-IWP-url-here

where 591 is whatever port you set.

-regards,
Dave

Richard, make sure that if you use any other port than port 80 over
http, that you specify the port number in the URL, like http://<hostname>:591/fmi/iwp
