Default using FMP to track job tasks - 04-06-2010 , 11:23 AM

I was wondering if anyone could offer some suggestions about a project
I'm working on.

I'm still using FMP 6.0. It has been a while since I actively designed
in FileMaker, so I'm a bit rusty.

I would like to use FMP to define and track workflows for projects.
Currently, we use Filemaker to track time and expense against jobs. My
"30,000 foot idea" is as follows:

Quote:
User opens a job and selects a job type (e.g., "Product Photograph.")
FileMaker generates a task list of all the things that need to be done to do that type of job.
User "checks off" each task as it is completed, and FMP fills in the date it was completed. FMP also creates an entry in the time log file so that the user doesn't forget to enter his or her time.
The order of the tasks can be easily changed (by moving them up or down the list).
Tasks can be added as needed.
I have a few ideas of how to accomplish this, but they all seem quite
complicated and, in the end, might restrict the user more than help
them. Does anyone have an example of a FMP database that might help me
proceed?

Thanks for your help!!
Eric

Since you've already got the Jobs listed (or at some stage have) for
tracking the time, then why not simply add a "Done" tick box to that
Table's Fields?

seems that Tasks is a table depending of Jobs. You can create them in a
portal. You need a sorting number in Tasks, to use as sorting order in
the relation formula.

you can use a script with buttons (up and down) tu change the sorting
number of the Tasks
