Default Using dates in scripts? - 10-11-2005 , 07:02 AM

(FM 7, Windows)

I can use dates in finds and sorts just fine. Find me everything where
the date is less than the first of April? No problem.
IF (date <1/4/2005)?

Any such statements are blatantly ignored.

The ability to use such statements in my scripts would be *really
really* useful.

Any ideas? Does FM8 recognise dates as sortable entities?

Dates are special 'animals'. There some precautions to take.
In your case if 'date' is a field of type 'date' - by the way it is not
a good idea to name the fields with words that are exactly equal to
names of FMP functions - then 1/4/2005 is certainly not taken as a date.
At most is a chain of characters ie a 'Text'.
So you may try - and look in the Help section - :
IF(Date1, Date(4,1,2005))

Correction :
You may try :
IF(Date1, "<" & Date(4,1,2005))
