Default Use Mac OS X for authentication with FMP Server7? - 11-27-2005 , 04:31 PM

I'm helping a small school that uses FMP 7 and Server 7 on a small Mac
network. Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question or not
implementable.

I think I saw a reference to this a few months ago, but can't find it
now, and can't locate specific info on how to implement external
authentication of FM users with FMP 7 and OS X. What I'd like to do is
set up each user to have a privilege set determined by their OS X
username and password, eliminating the need for a separate set of users
and passwords in the FM 7 files. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

thanks,
Lanse Stover

Bill,
thanks for the lightning-fast response. Looking over that article, I'm
a bit daunted. I gather the info applies to Server 7 as well, with the
appropriate updates. I was hoping it would be a little more
straightforward, but perhaps it is still do-able. Thanks for the help!

Try not to be discouraged.

This is one of those documents infected by "IT-Speak."

Basically it's a syndrome in which common-sense terms and ideas must be
replaced with meaningless illustrations and fancy acronyms in order to seem
sophisticated.

Yes, it all applies to Server 7 -- that is what the document was originally
written for.

The good stuff starts on page 11.
