Comments or suggestions? It seems to do what i want but are there any
other sideffects to it? Thanks all!

That indicates they are not exactly aligned and/or not the same color.

Or that Pri has not upgraded to 7.0v3? This was a problem on v1 and maybe
v2.

I am seeing a noticable difference when two fields are overlayed in v3.
Certainly not what I would call fuzzy as pri described (in fact, somewhat
sharper), not bold, just blacker than individual fields in the same layout.

Yep -- just not as bad as v1. And if I recall, things are even worse
when you overlay black text over, say, red text. There was no fixing it
for many users in v1, but in v3 you can try adjusting the 'font
smoothing style' on the Edit > Preferences dialog.

hey!!
thanks for all your tips. But i found another way of doing it. I
duplicated the all the fields that were buttons and i wanted to be able
to use in find mode. then i removed from the duplicates the button
feature and made thier fill transparent. Then i overlayed it exactly on
top of the original fields. Now in browse mode, the "two fields" are
buttons and in find mode i can click in and use them. The ONLY
disadvantage of this is that since i overlayed the same field on top of
another field, they both show the same values in browse mode and so the
text seems to be darker and bolded and a bit blurry.

Sounds a bit iffy, unless it's a new trick in FileMaker 7 - it won't
work in earlier versions. FileMaker simple does whatever the topmost
element is defined to do no matter what Mode you're in. So in your case
clicking on the pile will activte the field and never run the button
script underneath. ?\

Assuming this trick does work in FileMaker 7, you could simply remove
the 'button field' underneath and replace it with a normal rectangle
defined as the button (with the field still on top).

Haven't tried it, but I can see that working if the Find-mode field is
on top of the browse-mode-button field, and if the Find-mode field is
set to not allow entry while in browse mode. Has potential...
