Default Updater Adv. Pro. 8.0v1 problem on OSX - 05-10-2007 , 09:04 PM

Hi...

I'm trying to update my verson to v2.
I downloaded the v1->v2 updater and took the quick install.
It tells me it can't find a valid version of FM, though it exists.

Is there a solution to this?

TIA,
Joe

Are you certain you downloaded the correct updater? The Filemaker Pro
updater will not work on Filemaker Advanced, and vice versa.

If you've got the right installer, it should just work. If not try
reinstalling v1, and try launching v1 after installing it before
updating to v2 to make sure OS X knows its there. I'm sorry I don't
actually know how FMs Updaters seek previous versions on OSX, but I've
never had to find out, because its always just worked.

In an interesting coincidence, I also couldn't successfully run the v2
updater for one of my users because it kept failing with some kind of
permissions error when it tried to create some folder. I tried
trashing v1, reinstalling that, then trying the v2 updater with no
luck.

In fact, when it fails it leaves v1 inoperable, so thanks FM.
