Default Update link through ODBC link between FMP8.5 and Excell 2003 when using calculation fields - 07-03-2007 , 08:37 AM

Hello,

I have 3 fmp 8.5 files with relationships between them. Lets call them file
A, B and C.
I have some data (number format!) in file B. Since I noticed that is is
difficult (impossible) to make an ODBC link with file B (over 1000 records
and each record over 1000 fields!!!!) I created an extra file called C. In
this file C, I made a relationship with file B and I retrieve the necessary
field within Calculation fields.
Now I can easilly make and ODBC link and import the neccessary data in
excell (using turntabels (I hope this is what they call them in english,
because I use a dutch version of excell).
Untill here, no problem but.... I also have a file A in which I put extra
data that is added to some fields in file B. As I told before, file C gets
the content from these fields in file B through calculationfields. If I look
in file C everything is OK. The fields I use in file C are automatically
altered since I use calculation fields. So, in file C I can see the correct
data in the fields. And now, finally the problem... When I do an update of
the data in the excellfile, I don't get the altered data. Even if I make a
whole new ODBC-link and excel turntabel I keep getting the data without the
"extra's" of file A (allthough I can see the correct data with FMP 8.5 in
file C!!!!)
I hope I make any sence (as you have noticed, english is not my native
language), and that there is somebody out there that gives me a simple
explenation, since, if you ask me, it has to be something simple!

Thanks in advance,

Marc
