New related records are popping up in my 7.0 database, while I didn't write anything to those related records. What rules make that those records are created? |

Related records can be created via a portal in the main file / table or in the related table / file itself - these records could be created manually, by a script, or by importing data. |

And with or without having any portals anywhere. The key is that you have your relationship definition set with the option to 'allow record creation' turned on. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Howard Schlossberg (818) 883-2846 FM Pro Solutions Los Angeles, California FileMaker 7 Certified Developer Associate Member, FileMaker Solutions Alliance |

The problem is not how to create those records; the problem is to prevent records I didn't ask for getting into existence. I'm not aware of places where I write data into those related records, yet after updating a parent record I do see new child records, empty. |
