Default Unable to edit file - 01-23-2007 , 02:47 PM

Have you seen this behaviour before?

If I share out the file from the FileMaker 8.0 server, I can not create
new records or delete any records. It reports to me that the file is
locked.

When I copy the file to my computer and open it locally, I can create
and delete records.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience with me.

Regards
Kevin Smith

By default, if you are running the FMP server software on a Server,
like Win2003 Server, the server does not grant write persmissions to
databases located inside the programs folder.

If you have this scenerio, make a databases folder inside the filemaker
pro server folder inside the program files folder and change
permissions for "everyone" to read/write permissions on that Database
folder.

Hi David

Unfortunately, that does not apply in my case.

Some files are OK and others are locked. All are located in same folder
on OS X server.

Since your on OS X, can you verify the all the DB's have the same
persmissions set on them?

OSX is crazy on file level permissions. I'd Get Info on a file that
works fine and one that is "locked" and compare their permissions.

Which version of FMP Server are you running?

Hope this helps.
