You know how Quicken gives you the balance of your account as of that day? So if you have a payment or deposit past today it's not figured in. How do they do that and can I do it in FMP? I thought I had it figured out but it doesn't work. Thanks for any help. Cris |

Hi Cris, You can use relationships to calculate this value. Given table "MyTable" with the fields: EntryDate (Date) Amount (Number) 1) Create: CutOffDate (Date, Global) Then go to the relationships graph. 2) Duplicate the "MyTable" table occurrence and call it "DateRange." 3) Set up a new relationship where MyTable::CutOffDate >= DateRange::EntryDate 4) Finally, go into the Fields tab and create a new field: TotInRange (calculation, number result, context: MyTable) = Sum(DateRange::Amount) Now when you look at your handiwork, you can enter a value into CutOffDate and TotInRange will only show the sum of Amounts on or before that date.
