Default Sub summary lists - missing values - 11-17-2010 , 12:45 PM

FM 10 Pro

I have a sub summary report sorted on Account Class. When I look at
the subsummary in both Browse and Preview mode some of the values
(dollar amounts) do not show. Is there an obvious reason for this? Any
ideas.

Thanks
Matthew

Sub-summaries don't work in Browse Mode. Only when previewed or printed.

Records don't get missed out (unless they're not in the current Found Set).

Sub-summaries do only show totals (with correctly defined Summary Fields),
not individual record data.

Either your Sort Order is wrong for the Layout's sub-summary order or the
records have the wrong data and aren't sorting where you think they should -
even an extra space might make a difference where it appears in the sort
order.

Another possibility is if the "dollar amounts" are coming from a Related
Field, then the relationship link will be using the first Record of the
sub-grouped records, not all of them.

OOOoo!

Sorry, Harry, you've been left in the dust of progress, again.

In FM 10, subsummary parts do indeed show in browse mode.

If you're not seeing dollar amounts you expect, you may not have data
in the field you're sorting on.

Or it could be the dollar amounts are too large for the field you've
got on the layout. Stretch the field longer.

Otherwise, let us know what is different about the amounts that are
missing. How do they compare to the ones that show properly?

Harry is working in version 6, I think, so his answers about current
versions are not always....current.

With the exception of Sub-summary Parts now working in Browse Mode (which
was really important anyway), everything I said was perfectly correct for
any version of FileMaker.

I'm not working in FileMaker 6. I'm working in FileMaker 4.x, 5.x and very
ocassionaly 9.x.
