Default Sharing filemaker files? - 06-12-2007 , 11:44 AM

Is it possible to share filemaker files with the trial version of
filemaker? I get an error when I attempt to do this.

I've tried to do something similar with the FileMaker Advanced, but
for some reason I cannot see the database files (only the server
names) when I try to connect from a different computer.

Thanks.

Yes it is.

Check out the "can't access remote file" thread for help with this
issue.

Hope this helps

No Luck

I recently purchased Filemaker and am looking to share the file across
the network with two other users. I can share the file just fine with
one user, but when the other user attempts to access the file,
Filemaker closes and gives an error (maximum # of users exceeded) and
closes. The two other computers only have the trial version installed.
The two other users basically perform data entry. Could the trial
version be the issue? Any workarounds?

If it's not possible to share with more than two users - how do I go
about exporting the file - retaining the layout and such? I've tried
this but it seems very difficult to go back and match up the fields
each time.

Any insight would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure, but that is very likely. The trial version is literally
that, a version for you to see if you like Filemaker Pro and is no
doubt limited in some ways.

Yep, buy two more FileMaker Pro licenses. )

You're wasting time and effort trying to workaround the trial version -
it's not meant to be used as a permanent solution.

You either need to buy more licenses, or get people to move to the one
computer that does have a license when they need to use the database.

Harry's reply said it all. You need a license for each computer on
which you want to install FileMaker Pro. It's that simple.
