Default Sending Files as attachments but without a fixed pathway - 09-14-2005 , 07:33 AM

It is really weird for me that the last version of FileMaker 8 is not
able to send file from a "VARIABLE" pathway. Is there any special
reason for this? I would like to send files as attachments but instead
to indicate where the file is or which name has in the script, I would
like to to use the contents of a field for the pathway (where the file
is) and other for the name of the file.
Thanks,
Joaquin Castilla

Why that hasn't been possible has been a question from the beginning.

Before I started using a plug-in (either oAzium FileTools or Troi File), I
used an AppleScript created dynamically. Upon exporting to a fixed
filename, the AS would execute to change the name of that file. I imagine
the same is possible in the Winduhs environment.

Thanks Opie but that is not work because you do not have the option of
"Then attach a file by field name [gTEXTThree]". You only have the
option to attach something in a specific path. You can not put the name
of a field instead a path because doesn't work.

Have you tried setting a global variable in your script and then use
"file:$$path" in the file reference for the attachment.
