Default Script to export records in FM 4.1? - 09-08-2005 , 07:59 AM

Hi all

I don't know much about Filemaker, but I'm in a situation where I need a
script to export a number of records to allow them to be read by another
application. I was originally intending to access the FM4.1 database via a
Visual Basic application, as per a previous post of mine a couple of days
ago, but I understand that FM4.1 can't do this very easily. So I'm after a
quick and dirty export script instead.

What script steps do I need in addition to the Export Records step? I guess
I need a way of automatically selecting the fields to be output, which
Export Records on it's own doesn't seem to allow.

I'd be most grateful for any pointers.

Thanks,
Stuart

Thanks Martin, I was unsure exactly how the Restore option worked but I
think I'm there now.

Just have a look for 'export'. Do it once manually, than accept and
reuse this export order. Taking the same file path and file name would
be the fastest option both for export and for external import.

Did you actually have a look at the export script option?
