Default This script cannot be found or has been deleted. - 02-23-2010 , 10:42 AM

Hi --

Any suggestions on getting rid of scripts that generate the
following ... "This script cannot be found or has been deleted." ...
Also, is this a pre-cursor for more corruptions? Any suggestions would
be helpful.

Regards,
Rich

You or someone else likely deleted a script, but there is still a script
or button that was calling that script. Determine when the error
message pops up, determine which script is running, and remove the
'perform script' step from that script.

It doesn't sound much like corruption to me.

Hi

When I read your email, I got thinking about an obscure problem I've
encountered. I'm hoping therefore that Howard is right, and that your
script is trying to call a deleted script, and that's all.

If not, here's how I understand the problem. Earlier versions of
FileMaker You're trying to edit a phantom script in the Script Editor.
When you try and toggle the tickbox to the left of the script, you get
the dialogue "This script cannot be found or has been deleted." (see
this image that illustrates the problem http://shareimageview.wikispaces.com/1)
The script can't be run. You won't be able to delete the script
either. If you recover the file, the script will be removed from the
list of scripts; BUT take note, you should never use a recovered file
in a productions system. Ideally, you should go back to your most
recent good copy of the system and develop from there.

On to your next question, is it a sign of further corruption ahead?
No, I don't think so. It's worth doing a recover on the file purely to
see what damage FileMaker is able to discover. Use FileMaker 10 as
it's got the most comprehensive reporting on what the recovery process
has detected.

hi,
similar problem here...

I was doing some work remotely on my database last night when FM crashed.

Today it seems that I am getting this error message on some scripts. The weird thing is that the script still works! I just get an error message that the "Script cannot be found or has been deleted"

I will follow Kevin's advice and see what FM reports after a recovery. but that wont happen until tonight when I shut down server. grrr...

Recovered files are only meant as a temporary solution to enable you to
retrieve data into new copies of the database structure. FileMaker says
NOT to continue using recovered files as an in-use database system - once
a file has become corrupted, it is likely to still have problems after
being recovered, which could include a complete crash losing all the data.
