Default Scan Documents and Store Within Filemaker - 06-14-2007 , 08:56 AM

Hi Filemaker 8.5 pro adv on Windows XP and Mac OS X

Been busy working away over the last few months developing a Filemaker
solution for the company I work for.

Was rather impressed the other day when I stepped into an office of
another company that had no bits of paper on the desk. This was achieved
by having all documents scanned and stored digitally on their hard drive.

I've been looking to see if a plug-in exists for Filemaker where this
could be done. I know I could scan the document using one piece of
software, save the file to disk, than import into a Filemaker container
field. But does a more streamline solution exist where it can be done at
the touch of a button, all within Filemaker.

I don't understand why you want to store these data inside filemaker. If you
want anything with it, like viewing 100%, or multiple pages, or printing you
probably have to export them again. Every record will have an ID, just scan
the items you need, give them the same id and a serial. Now you have only to
create one record for each file to store the image as calculated-reference.
Related to the main table. I have created this for several users and it
works like a charm,

Keep well, Ursus
