Default Runtime problem under Windows XP - 01-30-2007 , 09:52 AM

Hi,

I would greatly appreciate any help with a problem we are experiencing
on some computers -- but not others -- running Windows XP.

We are running FM Pro 6.0 under Mac OS X 10.4 in-house for a
bibliographical database and have also distributed a runtime version
of the database for use by contributors worldwide. The version for
Windows users was bound using FM Developer 5.5 under Windows XP and
has worked without problem for some years. Recently, however, one
contributor copied the solution to a new computer (after his old
computer failed) and reported that one main function of the software
no longer worked properly: namely that the results of a search
conducted on records in a related database are no longer displayed in
a portal in the main database layout. Copying the same files to
another computer, however, yielded a runtime that worked properly
again. We find that the runtime works fine for us on a local machine
running XP SP2 Home Edition, but not on another also running the same
flavour of Windows. It has also been shown to work on another (remote)
computer running XP Professional Edition. (In passing, it also works
ok under Windows 98.)

I realize that different OS updates may have been applied to the
different machines and that this might be significant as regards this
problem, but also that we may, in our ignorance, be overlooking
something else that might need changing in the runtime now.

With thanks in advance,
Gerard
