Default Repeating Field Problem - 04-27-2010 , 12:19 PM

I am having a problem with installing Repeating Fields.
I define the field as I have done many times, but when I go to insert data
in it give the following error message "This action can not be performed
because this field is not modifiable".

What is wrong, I have added 100's of repeating fields with no problem.

I am using FM 10 Pro, with Windows XP

Charlie

PS: I have just installed ver. 10 from ver 9.

It sounds like the field definition may be set to "calculation" or, if
it's a non-calc field, the "prohibit modification" checkbox is
selected.

Or, less likely, the user's / group's privileges don't allow modifying that
Field.

But, depending on what you're using them for, you probably do NOT want to
use Repeating Fields anyway. They're a painfull way to do anything with lots
of annoyances.

Your right, But I only use these Repeating Fields to hold data for screen &
Layout information, never to used with-in the database

can you tell me where this "prohibit modification" checkbox is.
This problem started with the installation of Ver 10, which I'm not to happy
with.

Make sure your field is not a calculation field and the "protect" box at
the bottom of the auto-enter options is unchecked.

The "Prohibit meodification" checkbox is in the Auto-enter options of the
Field's definition ... but is only usable if the Field is set to
auto-enter some data.

The other possibility is the "Allow entry" checkbox in the Field Format
options once you've selected the Field on the Layout.

You may also have a similar problem if the Field is from a Relationship
that is not defined to allow creation of related records.
