As you said, FileMaker is simple. And so should this be.

You copy ALL your database files on a cd (external server, memory stick,
whatever) retaining the folder structure.

Yhe most difficult part on your new pc will to exactly rebuild the folder
structure. So if every fmp-file is just inside one folder your are done very
quick. If not, rebuild the structure and put every file inside its proper
folder.

That should do it.

My office still runs some small databases off FileMaker Server 5.5.

I find the included 'administrative documentation' doesn't have what I
need to know, namely: How do I restore my databases from a complete
bare metal erasure?

The machine that run's FM Server 5.5 is urgently scheduled for a
rebuild, and I need to be sure that I get FM reinstalled and the
original databases restored without issue.

I'm sure its not hard (nothing in FileMaker seems to be) but can
anyone give me a quick and dirty list of what I'll need to do in order
to get the application and databases up and running from a complete
reload?

Please reply to the group so it will get picked up by the Google
archives ;-)

Thanks in advance,
