or plug-in or anything I can get that will let me read this, or do I have to
get them to convert it to a dbf or csv file for me?

Thanks!

Damn! That's exactly what I need since I could then save it as a .dbf file
and use it, but as far as I can find it's only for Macs and I'm a Windows
guy.

Thanks anyway......

You could download the demo of FM 6 from filemaker site, then
export to a format that 4.x can read. You should also consider
updating to the latest version anyway I guess ;-)

I can't recommend Reverter, even if you could run it. It does
a very specific thing, but is not for actual use of the files
afterwards - weird things happen.

Cheers

Hi Lynda,

You have a couple of options.

First of all, Files made in 5.x, 5.5.x and 6 are not backwards compatible
with prior versions.

You could download the Trial Demo of Version "6", it is a full working demo,
and then play with the exports. I usually use Tab Text as my export, as it
is a very common way to move the data back and forth between FileMaker,
Excel, BBEdit (a word processor) and FileMaker 4.x. However, you might also
look at the Merge export, as it will includes the Field Names.
