Free Mac Mini from Gratis Network:

If anyone out there is planning to do this:
1) go to the URL with the referrer id stripped off. No point in
rewarding spammers for their effort.
2) Don't spam newsgroups to get referals.
3) Get a life and don't partake in pyramid-like schemes in the first
placee.
Yes yes, I've read all about the gratis network deal, and while it may
not be an illegal pyramid it works much the same and ought to be just as
illegal.
The "service" you provide to get a free X is to find gratis some people
to spam (er provide targeted ads to), and once you've earned them enough
customers they pay you out with your free X. Essentially the X is a
finders fee for locating them x number of new customers. In laymans
terms this is accomplished by selling out your friends and begging them
to look through the ads on gratis and ultimately buy something through
gratis while logged in through your referrer id.
Naturally, once you've sold out your friends for a free X, the main hook
you used to get them to particpate in this scam is the lure that they
too can get a free X if they just find enough new blood to sell out...
and since they can't re-sell the people who sold them, and likely most
of their social crowd they desperately turn up on usenet hoping for
suckers... and then once they're exhausted you've got 20,000,000 people
signed up to get a free X and no more suckers to sell out.. so gratis
ultimately counts on having 20,000,000 people trying to find them
customers, but only a few thousand ever managing to meet the quota to
get the X.
If that doesn't look like a pyramid scam to you...
Well.. cheers...
