Default Problems with Using CutePDF Writer to copy the text in a script - 06-06-2005 , 01:05 PM

[Changed the subject line to reflect the actual discussion topic.]

For those of you new to this dicussion, here is a summary:

- I cannot copy the contents of a script to other windows applications.
- I am advised that if I were to print the contents to a PDF file, then
I can copy them.
- However, writing via Adobe does not work. Neither, using the Adobe
distiller worked for me.(I get an error message, and no file is
created.)
- Matt Wills says that a free program (CutePDF) works for him.

Here is what I am finding out using the CutePDF writer:

- I am able to create a PDF document.

- I am able to select the text fields.

- However, when I paste this into a Notepad document I get what looks
like non-ASCII characters--a lot of squares in lieu of letters.

Any other suggestions for copying the contents of a script to another
windows application?

Thanks!

Sam

Using Google, I saw the following links :
http://www.troi.com/software/promaker.html
http://www.robs-world.de/filemaker/SC/Readme.htm
http://www.chapsoft.com/brushfire/faq.html
There look pretty old and even out of date, but who knows ?

Thanks for these links. Unfortunately as you have already indicated
some are old, one of them seem to do interesting stuff with scripts,
but did not seem to facilitate copying to notepad.
