Default problems with sliding - 07-25-2005 , 10:38 AM

Two questions about sliding records (sliding up only).
First, when I have more records than can be put on one page, some get
split. When I manage to fix it on some pages, pages that previously
had unsplit records now have split ones (i.e. when I fix one, it
creates new ones). Is there some way I can limit the number of records
displayed per page?
Second, I have sliding records that need to be printed in landscape. I
need to have page numbers on the left side (which when printed will be
on the bottom). If I try to put the page number field in the body,
there seems to be no way to get it centered on the page. Is there no
way to have a left margin that is separate from the rest of the layout?
In both these cases the size of the body in the layout is only 1 line
(so when slid, each record is only 1 line).

Thanks,

Nick

Thanks for your reply.
For part two, printing with a second run worked fine. Overlapping
didn't work.
For part 1 I'm not clear on what you mean. The records in the body are
from a portal where I want to limit the number per page to 37 (the 38th
often gets split). I'm not sure how to implement what you suggested.

That's very likely your problem - portals are not meant to be printed
and suffer from problems, especially with sliding if I remember
correctly.

If you think you want to print a portal, then it's usually best to
print from the related file itself, using another relationship back to
the main file to get the parent data onto the printout.
