Default Plugin : Script to Text and back again - 06-30-2005 , 07:55 AM

Hi,
Some time back I spotted a FM Plugin on the Web which converted Scripts to
Text and back again.
This allowed for modifications in the script via a text editor.

Can't rember the name or the editor...
Anyone know what I'm talking about ?
Anyone had any good or bad experiences with it ?

TIA
Don

You're probably taking about ProMaker Utilities
<http://www.troi.com/software/promaker.html>. It is Mac only, may not
work on OSX, and is no longer supported.

Ok. Thanks for the info.
Anyone figured out why this plugin died the death ?
Seems like a pretty useful option.
Specially for people like myself migrating into FM from text based stuff in
4GL.

Anything that does Scripts to Text and Back Again .... and is still alive ?

TIA
Don

FMP keeps changing the interface.

I still wonder how FMRobot got access to the field/table defintions.
What's the way to go? I'm afraid it's C++ via the API only?
Thanks to some prior posts here, we know there are rumours of a
'FileMaker 8' being on the horizon. If so, and if you can wait, perhaps
there will be new features in FM8 that might help?

If the Text to Script plugin malfunctions whenever FM changes the interface,
would this not imply that the text file actually creates scripts or
manipulates scripts that in turn manipulate the interface which then
manipulates the database commands (intrinsics).

Wouldn't it be simpler to have a text editor that would interface directly
with the intrinsics ? Without using the interface.

Or is that being hopelessly naive ?

Intrinsically Naive Joe.
