I'm new to FileMaker Pro, and finding the switch from access a little
daunting. I'm trying to import data from excel...

I've managed to get records from two separate excel worksheets
imported, however when I import 12 records they come with 13 blank
records! When Import another 12, I get another 13. Can any one tell me
why I'm getting blank records?

Are you sure that the record is really blank?? If the "blank" row in
Excel has even a single space in one of the cells, that will count as
data - Excel will print the row (unless the Print Area is set
differently) and FileMaker will probably import the row.

there will be blank lines after the last row of data in your excel
sheet. They might look blank, but excel remembers that last row that
was modified. Even if its been cleared (eg, delete key) later,
Filemaker will assume there's valid data to the last row used in the
excel sheet.
