Default password access - 08-30-2005 , 01:34 AM

Hello,

I'm trying to protect our company's database with a pass, in order not
to be copied or taken out of the company. I accomplished it but then,
once your enter the pass, and access the file, you're able to see it on
the access privileges>passwords, write it down and be able to unlock
the file whenever you want. How can I make FM6 not displaying the
password?
Thanks, Daniel.

Create another group and password that doesn't have the ability to
manage priviledges, and let your users use that one.

Hello again, could you please explain better?

I have created a first password that allows me to access the file.
Now, I created a group with a different pass for my employees, but
still then, once they access the database, they can see my pass at the
top of the menu access privileges>password, and then copy the file to a
cd-r and then open it out of my company.
could you please explain in detail?

thanks again,

daniel

Limit their access privileges. Do not give them administrative
privileges. Then they should not be able to see other people's passwords.

BTW, what version of Filemaker are you using? IN FMP 7, all the
passwords are represented by the usual cryptic dots, even in the
Administrator account.
