Default open url unreliable. alternatives? - 08-08-2003 , 09:25 AM

Developer 6. I will be releasing a runtime solution soon, cross-platform
that has
a lovely help file set up as htm file. Problem is Filemakers open URL
script step
seems to fail arbitrarily. Filemaker acknowledges on their site that it is
not reliable on
XP but I have seen it fail often on my win2000 machine as well. Any
suggestions for
an alternative approach for my helpfile. I would like it (in whatever form)
to launch from
the click of a button in Filemaker. Any cheap plug-ins that would help? I
know about
the TROI plugin but it does alot I don't need and for now does not fall into
the cheap category
for my pocket book. Is the open file script step reliable if I made my help
file just a .txt? This
would suck from the point of view that my file is all hyperlinked and
formatted but better
to have ugly help than no help at all.

regards,

Pierre Lessard.

I may have solved the problem by putting the html file at
the root of the solution file instead of in a sub folder.
