Hi all,

I have a client about to switch to OSX, but who is printing forms
to a OKI microline 393 24 pins matrix printer who is connected
to the ethernet network using a HP jetdirect box.

Printing from Windows is fine, and i have tried Gimp print with cups on
OSX 10.3.9
but so far have not been able to get something out of the printer.

When i monitor the jetdirect through the Windows interface, i see
that there are packages received and transmitted, but the printjob
gets halted and there is no sign of anything happening on the printer.

Anyone any ideas?

As a backup I occasionally print from OS X 10.4.2 to an ancient HP
laserjet 5L attached to a Windows 98 PC and also to an old HP Officejet
T65 attached to a router/print server (is that like a Jetdirect box?)
using IP printing and GIMP. See a few tips at

I did find that user/account settings on the Windows PC were a nuisance.
Does the Jetdirect have such security features?

In addition, Tiger (10.4.2) might work better than Panther (10.3.x).
