Default odbc sharing - 06-24-2005 , 12:13 AM

I'm trying to connect to FMD7 through ODBC. I installed the driver,
configured a DSN and set up sharing in FM. Everything works very well,
*provided that* I run FM as an administrator (either by logging in as
an administrator or using "Run as..."). If I run it as a normal user,
it says "TCP/IP error, connection refused". The computer has Windows XP
PRO SP2, and turning off Windows Firewall doesn't make any difference.
What could be the problem?

Thanks
Adrian

Did you create a user dsn or a system dsn?

I created a file dsn. Does it matter?

Well, it doesn't seem to matter, I get "TCP/IP error, connection
refused" anyway.
But I noticed that whenever I start FM as a normal user, it puts 4
errors in the event log:

1. (SLSocket54)
SLSocket54@localhost,ErrorCode=3048,ErrorMessage=I nternal error, failed
to initialise the event trace component.
2. (SLSocket54) SLSocket54@localhost,ErrorCode=3010,ErrorMessage=C ould
not create a log file in ServiceDebugLogPath.
3. (SequeLink) Could not create a log file in ServiceDebugLogPath.
4. (SequeLink) Internal error, failed to initialise the event trace
component.

Looks like SequeLink, like many other stupid pieces of software, was
made to work only with administrator rights.
