I have several fields formated for a 2 decimal display. I am bringing them into a Merge layout. I add the fields and the accompanying text but the fields are displaying an erratic number of decimals. I had imported the numbers using Excel. In the text area, I try to select <<fieldname>> and set the Number format to two decimals but I do not get that option in the text block, only when the field is all by itself. Is there some way to control the decimal display in the Form Letter I am trying to make? FMP 10 on Windows XP |

I have a vague recollection that you can format ALL the numbers in the text block, but not the individual Merge Fields |

The only other way is to create Calculation fields with a Text Result to reformat the number to the appropriate number of decimal places. I haven't got FileMaker on this computer to test a calculation, but it may get a bit messy if you have to work out whether or not you need to add extra zeros to fill out to two decimal places. |

FMP 10 on Windows XP I have a vague recollection that you can format ALL the numbers in the text block, but not the individual Merge Fields - try clicking on the text block once so that it gets its handles, but you're not editing the text, then see if you can set the Number format. You can of course use normal Fields and Sliding, but that won't be suitable for all situations.
