Default moving an old FM Server ver. 5; nothing shows to open - 05-30-2007 , 04:50 PM

moving an old PC ver 5 of filemaker server and data files to a new
computer.

Run the FM Server install software. Cool.
Then from the Start menu, Programs, FileMaker Server, Filemaker
Server Console, look things over and it all looks cool. Except I'm
not seeing my actual database, just the Server Administration applet,
when I start Filemaker Pro client on a workstation....

So where exactly do i tell Server that there are FP5 files around that
it should be showing to those connecting to it as a Host? Do I say,
share single user files? is there a config file on the old server
that I can copy or that will give me some clues? is the info in the
registry? what?

How do I work the last bit of magic?

( I did discover that only one copy of FM Server can run at a time, so
I turned off the old machine while trying to config the new one, so
that's not an issue...)

anyone?

As said in the doc and help, your files must reside in the 'FileMaker
Server' folder or one level down'. Is this the case ?
And also, are the files set to 'multiuser' ?
Last, do you open them thru 'Open remote' or Open / Host ?

they're in a folder below.
AHA! set them to multiuser!
that should do it...

thanks, I figured that would be an easy one to answer.

If it's so easy, why didn't you find it yourself ?
I don't know why I lost my time with you.

Nice answer. Thanks.
I, sometimes, get too nervous.
