Default merging 2 FM7 files - 07-08-2004 , 08:28 AM

I'd like to bring two distinct (but related) FM7 files together for the sake
of convenience.

The only way I know how is to re-create tables and layouts and then import
records from one to the other. That's pretty awkward.

Is there a quick way to import/copy layouts, etc that I'm missing?

Thanks for your help!

David

Yes, I'd like to be able to import tables too. You "open" other sources
but not import. It seems like a handy option.

Layouts can be cut/pasted. I haven't tried this in Windows but on the
Mac you can select all and drag the layout onto the desktop. When you
drag that file back into a FMP layout all the bits regain their
functionality.

cut and paste also is handier than one might think, if you create all
the new fields and rels with the same names as what you have in the file
to be incorporated, then copy/pasting teh layout will automatically pick
up the appropriate fields and portal rels
