Ursus,
You don't seem to have received any answer on that post, as it has been
masked (wrongly) by another subject.
Have you solved your problem or is it worth to spend some time trying to
figure out a solution for you ?

Winxp FMP 8 adv. I have set up a database which has: (very simplified)

table: artists. Each artist has it's own unique ID: ArtistID
table: Books. Each book has it's own unique ID: BookID ( These are
books in my library.)
Connection table Artist_Books. Four fields. ArtistsID, BooksID, Pag
and ill.

Whenever I read something about an artist or find a picture I enter
the data I found in the pag and ill fields.
For each artist in each books only one record. pages I just enter as
text seperated with a comma.

Until now I had inside the Artist table just a textfield with holds
all titles of what an artist has done (titles of pictures, buildings
etc). The problem now arises that I want to see, without entering
things twice, where I can find this and in which book I can find it.
So I created a fourth table: Objects. For each object just one record.

I have not been able to figure out a way to see all object inside the
Artist layout AND see from all objects ALL books where I could find
them.

I can create either but not both. I have tried to create a new
intermedeate table to hold ArtistID and BookID and ObjectID but then I
have to create a new record every tiome a single object is mentioned,
thus overflowing the portal in which I see a list of objects by a
specified artist.

Surely there has to be a way, but so far I must have missed it.

Thanks, Ursus
